In life, it never usually crosses someone’s mind that men are dominant in almost every work field. Whether it is the medical field or business, men are labeled as the majority.   Women Movements such as the 1964 Civil Rights Act have banned sexual discrimination along with other government-based support. Women are discriminated in the workplace, due to men being provided with higher level job opportunities, causing women to settle for lower-level job in just about every work field. There have been a handful of laws passed to kill the sources that seem to support sexist activities in the corporate world.   However, in the year of 2009 women held a mere 20 percent of the superior managing positions in the business field, according to the 2009 International Business Report by Grant Thornton. (Fogarty). Personally, these cases are used as an attempt cover up or quickly fix altercations. The cases are not usually taken seriously and are used try to alleviate a more serious solution. The government is looking for ways to ignore the problem, hoping it will settle disputes. However, women are still establishing themselves among men. Women’s groups have encouraged practices of diversity in the workplace, which at times seems to help, and at others be a step in the opposite direction. These groups have also advocated businesses and agencies to train and mentor female employees. Classified enterprises have provided sums of money to programs like these, in order to support the progression of women to the higher job positions. These training sessions can seem like a way to help a woman reach
equality in the work place. However, they are actually an effort to help the agency providing the resources to find people willing to do the job. There have been many reasons that try to justify this difference between the two genders.
