Dealing with adversities as an opportunity for personal growth.
Since birth, human beings have to face the adversities that existence itself implies. The individual constantly battles against nature’s disasters, health issues, social conflicts and more often with setbacks related to family and work. Many times the results of facing difficulties induce frustrations for the individual. However, the experience of confronting the day-to-day adversities could be useful if the person tries to turn these negatives experiences into beneficial actions like setting up personal goals, strengthening the character and learning to socialize with people, as elements of the individual’s growth.
Daily life implies dealing with adversities and sometimes the repercussions are negatives for the individual. Human beings often feel discouraged and defeated by difficulties and lead their life through paths of frustrations adopting negative behaviors. Instead of doing this, the individual could use these misfortunes to focus on making pro-active changes in his attitudes and strengthening his skills to overcome to the hard times. An example of this positive change in the character might be the example of a rookie politician struggling for being nominated to a position in his party. After several failures, instead of giving up, he decides following in the race for the position. He visualizes that patience and perseverance will help him to succeed sometime in the future.
Setting up personal goals represents another course of action for the individual to transform negatives situations in constructive acts of personal growth. The fear to be unsuccessful or experiences with prior failures, might obligate or motivate the person to establish personal purposes that allow him to face adversities in a position with better chances to succeed.
