Preparation for Career Narrative
This information and the career narrative worksheet can be downloaded from
http://teacherweb.com/OH/TCTC/MrsBaco/index.html by click on “photos/docs” and then selecting Career Narrative Worksheet. When prompted to, click on “save” and then save it to your floppy.
I. Occupation Match
The first activity is to be completed using the worksheet from class on the OCIS Website.
You can use this to match what’s important to you with suggested careers. You can also use the factors to help you with the “How do I know the choice is right for me?” section of your career narrative.
1. Click on “OCIS” from the top of the “Careers Exploration” page on the media center’s site. (Note: if you are viewing this in Word, you can simply click on this link).

4. Click on “Occupation Match” and then on “Select Factors.”
First you will prompted to prioritize factors. Use worksheet from class to help.
Second you will have to rank each factor’s importance. (read carefully as this will affect results)
Next you will be able to view a list of occupations that match what you are looking for in a career. It will be interesting to see if some of your choices make the list.
Finally, write down your results if it’s a short list or print out a longer list.
II. Skills Profiler
The second activity will help you with the what have you done so far part of your career narrative. It will also help you polish your resume later, so be sure to keep it with you passport information in the writing topics section of your binder.
1. Go to the Skills Profiler at “America's Career InfoNet” at: http://www.acinet.org/acinet/skills_home.asp?nodeid=20 (Note: if you’re viewing this in Word, simply click on the link).
2. Follow directions to complete your profile. Major steps include:
