Cat Cora is a well known Chef to most. She was born on April 3, 1967 in Jackson, Mississippi and raised in a Greek community. Both her grandfather and father were restaurateurs. When Cora was 15, she brought a business plan to her father and grandfather, knowing they could help her. Cora was inspired by Julia Child, Barbara Tropp, M.F.K. Fisher and Cora's grandmother, Alma, who have all influenced her style of cooking. After receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology and Biology at the University of Southern Mississippi, she enrolled at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. Cora has also appeared on Simplify Your Life. She was also a co-host of the Food Network show Kitchen Accomplished. Later, she ended up marring Jennifer Cora and. Cora gave birth to Nash while her partner bore Zoran, Caje, and Thatcher.
In 2004, Chef Cora founded Chef’s for Humanity. Chef’s for Humanity is an organization that gathers the culinary community together to raise funds and provide recourses for important emergency educational and hunger-related causes. In 2005, Cat Cora became the first and only female Iron Chef and in the following year in November, Cora was named Executive Chef of the magazine. She brought a taste of her culinary influence to both coasts by her restaurant at Macy’s South Plaza and Kouzzina at Walt Disney World’s Boardwalk Resort. Kouzzina offers Mediterranean-style Greek food. She was also a co-host for the “Melting Pot.” Cora was later named Teacher of the year in November 2006 by Bon Appetite Magazine. Cora was a winner of the Bon Appétit American Food and Entertaining Awards for 2006. In 2008, she was awarded the Hero Visibility Award by the Human Rights Campaign. Cora now hosts the new online web series, "The Muppets Kitchen with Cat Cora", an online cooking show featuring the muppets.
