Density of Liquids

Statement of the Problem:
    • Which liquid has the greatest density and which has the lowest density?

Hypothesis:
    • My hypothesis was that the milk will have the greatest density and the tap water would have the least density.

Materials and Safety:
    • 100 mL graduated cylinder
    • Triple beam balance
    • Milk
    • Tap Water
    • Pepsi
    • Diet Pepsi
    • Salt Water
    • Apple Juice

    • Make sure the liquids does not spill and keep graduated cylinder from the edge

    • Do not drink nor eat anything

Procedure:
        1. Record the mass of the cylinder. This is your magic number.
        2. Record the name of the liquid in the data table.
        3. Put some liquid in the graduated cylinder. It does not matter how much you put in as long as you read the graduated cylinder accurately.
        4. Calculate the mass of the liquid by subtracting the magic number and the   mass of the liquid.
        5. Pour the contents of the graduated cylinder into the container provided
        6. Pour a fresh sample of the liquid in the graduated cylinder. It does not matter how much you put in as long as you read the graduated cylinder accurately.
        7. Record the mass and volume under Trial 2.
        8. Pour the contents of the graduated cylinder into the container provided.
        9. Follow your teacher’s directions on how to proceed to get data for additional liquids.
