Have you ever heard the phrase “fight like a girl?” Probably, but not in the context that I will share with you. In today’s world fight like a girl means so many different things. The most important way this phrase can be explained is winning the battle or fight against breast cancer. Did you know that ninety percent of all cancers are curable if detected in stage one. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in women; it is also the disease that all women fear the most. Breast cancer can also occur in men, but it is far less common. In the last thirty years, doctors have made great strides in early diagnosis and treatments of this horrible disease and in reducing many breast cancer deaths.
Early detection is the Key! When you take the chance and wait until breast cancer causes symptoms, then the cancer tends to be larger and more likely to have spread beyond the breast. The size of a breast cancer, and how far it has spread, is some of the most important factors in predicting the outlook of a person with this disease. Eight out of ten breast lumps are not cancerous and do not carry cancer. A breast regimen that includes regular mammograms and screenings can sometimes detect breast cancer up to two years before it can be felt with self examination.
