In the Christianity faith, Jesus was the son of God. Jesus was the only human being to be created by the Holy Spirit and was born from a virgin. His mother, Mary was told by an angel from God that she would be the mother of the Messiah, “the anointed one” that was foreseen in the Old Testament. Mary, a virgin, gave birth and Jesus was born in Bethlehem. It was prophesied that Jesus was the Messiah promised by God to save the Jewish people from bondage. Jesus began to preach to anyone that would listen and gave people the hope and promise of salvation through grace. Jesus started religious teachings as a Rabbi around the age 30. Even though he was Jewish, his religious teachings are known today as the center of Christianity. Other Jewish Rabbi’s did not agree with his teachings and even considered him a threat to the church. Jesus traveled to various surrounding area to spread the word of God letting people baring witness that he is the son of God. Among his many followers he had 12 trusted men that were along his side through his journey of spreading the grace of God to people in need. Those 12 men were called his disciples. Jesus performed miracles that have been recorded in the New Testament and witnessed. Some of those miracles are raising the dead, restoring eyesight to the blind, healing the sick, helping people walk again, feeding large amounts of people from one fish and one loaf of bread, and even walking on water. Jesus preached for about three years. The popularity of Jesus was disturbing to other religious figures especially the Jewish people. The Jewish people wanted Jesus to be punished because he had spoken, blasphemy: saying he was God.   They convinced the Romans that the punishment according to the law was he must be put to death. Jesus was captured and crucified charged with claiming to be a king and the son of God. He was called a deceiver and charged with blasphemy.
