The Internet and Side Effect on Teen’s Social Life
The Internet- World Wide Web has made an enormous impact on the daily lives of people worldwide. It has changed the way many people communicate, learn and play nowadays. Besides, there are many more benefits that are not mentioned but the Internet is not without its bad side effects on teen’s social life. Indeed, Internet affects students by wasting their time in addition to distracting them from studying or possibly isolating them leaving them with minimal social skills. Otherwise, the Internet can be used for crime as well as illegal activities like cyber bullying, which some time get a serious risk.
First of all, Internet affects students by wasting their time in addition to distracting them from studying. In my experience, I saw a lot of teenager go to social network site like Facebook and MySpace every day of their lives after school or even at school. From day to day, it becomes their bad habit which cannot miss in their social life. According to one author in “Facebook and effects with students”, a researcher in the education department at Ohio State University stated, “75 percent of Facebook-using students believed the time they spend on the site has no impact on their work. People who spend more time on Facebook spend less time studying” (Karpinski 2). Furthermore, in actual life where I go to school, most of students log onto Facebook, a circumstance that irks educators, me as well, who complain of students messaging friends or posting snarky status updates from their laptops, or computer during class instead of paying attention to lectures. Likewise, according to recently research from www.timesonline.com in “Facebook do worse thing for fan” pointed out that “the students who use Facebook every day are underachieving by as much as an entire grade compared with those who shun the site” (1). These all example truth to prove that internet is wasting time and distraction teens from study.
