Internet censorship by the Chinese government should not be allowed
Since the Chinese government has carried out internet censorship, the argument about whether it should be allowed has never ceased. Especially after 2008, when China banned citizens from using Facebook, Twitter and some other social networking websites in order to protect national security. This angered citizens which was an unprecedented action in China. In the following, this essay will argue that internet censorship should not be allowed, and will state the reasons in three aspects: to the government, to citizens and to the country.
Internet censorship helps government officers bury the truth. With the development of China, this country has become richer and more powerful. However, some government officers abuse their authority to make profits for themselves or do harmful things to people they do not like. When news like this is reported on the websites, which may bring adverse effects to them, at most times the article will disappear in several minutes; especially when the officer has great power and is well-known, and the reporter sometimes may be punished or even killed. In this way, internet censorship becomes a convenient tool for officials, and this is destroying our country.
Internet censorship may mislead people. All human beings are equal and they have the right to know what is happening in the world. Without knowing the outside world, Chinese people cannot figure out our weaknesses. People may laugh at North Korea for their blind hero worship towards their leader. While people in other country think Koreans are under a terrible situation, Koreans believe they have the highest living standard in the world. People in China are in a much better environment, but better does not mean good.
