The amount of technology changes in my   years is vast. Pages could be written on the changes and how their use affects us in our everyday life. I will choose one in particular that combines many of these changes, and has great impact on myself and I am sure others.   The use of the cell phone, I believe has changed how many of us work, communicate and entertain ourselves.  
As a teenager in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, we communicated with friends and family by landline telephones or written letter. If you called a friend or family member for any reason, if they were not at home to answer or maybe on the phone already, your only option was to try calling back later. Now, you are able to reach just about anyone, anytime with your cell phone. You are able to do this by calling, by texting and some even receive email through their phones. It is near impossible not to reach someone by their phone, unless the battery is dead or, they choose not to answer or respond.   The use of the cell phone has gone beyond just communication between friends and family. It is useful for knowing where your children are at all times, for your boss to reach you on your day off , pharmacies to alert you to your prescription being ready and multitudes of other reasons for contact. Not only are we able to contact someone from nearly anywhere on earth at any time, we are also able to receive emails, photos, go online, endless possibilities of tasks we are able to do with our phones.
The effect on us as a whole is probably met with mixed emotions. While we are able to contact our teenage daughter when we choose, or call someone for help with a flat tire in the middle of the night, the phone is also a huge distraction for a many of us. It seems that we cannot sit down at dinner without the phone being near us, go to a movie without someone interrupting, or enjoy a holiday get together without everyone checking their Facebook status.   Even on a vacation getaway, the boss knows that he...
