There has been an ongoing controversy in the United States on whether the drinking age should be lowered to 18 like most of the world or if it should stay at 21 for years. There are many logical reasons why the drinking age in the United States should be lowered to 18 years old. A few reasons are, there is a possibility it could reduce the number of drunk drivers, at 18 you’re considered a legal adult, and young adults are proven to drink regardless of the law.
It is a proven pact young adults will drink regardless of the law. It is much safer for the United States to lower the drinking age so young adults don’t have to be discrete about drinking, and can drink in supervised areas such as restaurants, and local bars. Young adults are also known to want what they can’t have. In college, most students under the age of 21 can get hold of drink through friends who are 21 and older. They are not allowed to drink at events where others might be able to drink. This makes them want to be a rebel and try out what it is they are being kept away from. The fact that they don’t know when they will be able to drink again is the reason most college students tend to get overly drunk when they get a chance which can lead to many serious problems such as death. Keeping the drinking age at 21 sends the wrong message that alcohol represents maturity, which leads teens to want to drink alcohol to appear more mature. If the drinking age was lowered there would be no peer pressure to drink, and young adults could learn how to handle alcohol responsibly at home from their parents.
Another reason the drinking age should be lowered is because in the United States you are considered a legal adult at 18.   You can go to war and risk dying for your country when you are 18, you can also vote, buy cigarettes, but you can't buy alcohol.   If a person is mature enough to make serious decisions like those, why aren’t we aloud to make a simple decision as to how much and If we should drink? A 20...
