Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease caused by the bacterium treponema pallidum.( Syphilis). It is passed from person to person through direct contact with a syphilis sore. sores usually occur on the genitals, vagina, anus, or in the rectum.(Syphilis). Babies can get this disease if their pregnant mother has the disease.Syphilis is a hard disease to detect because it often imitates the symptoms of other diseases.
The signs of syphilis are sometimes asymptomatic, which means they might not show up for years. Symptoms of the disease are a single round, small and painless sour. It appears at the spot where Syphilis entered the body. It heals without treatment, but if not treated it eventually progresses to the secondary stage.(syphilis). The secondary stage includes Skin rashes and rashes on one or more areas of the body. (Syphilis).These symptoms usually occur several weeks after the first encounter and if treatment is not received. Other symptoms are loss of hair, weight loss, muscle aches, and fatigue.(Syphilis). Long term effects are damage to internal organs, including the brain, nerves, eyes, heart and blood vessels. (syphilis).It can cause death aswell. Syphilis is easy to cure if it is caught in the early stages, a single injection of penicillin will cure a person who has had it for less then a year, Additional doses are needed for people who have had it longer. For people allergic to penicillin other antibiotics are available to treat syphilis.(Syphilis). Syphilis is overall an easy curable disease but if let go for a long period of time it can lead to serious injury and or death.
