United States biggest road accident is cause by talking on the phone or texting while driving. It is as dangerous as drunk driving. People lose control, and they drive faster while talking on the phone because they are not paying attention to the speed limit. Today’s question “should cell phones be banned while driving?” in my opinion I think it should be banned because its causing car crashes more than drunk driving.
There are 2,600 people are killed each year in accidents involving drivers on cell phones. About 10 percent of drivers say they sometimes talk on cell phones while driving, and that figure is growing each and every day. People who are using cell phones are using one hand to drive and sometimes they can’t control their vehicle because they are too busy talking on the phone or texting. An assistant professor of psychology at the University of Utah, Frank Dews said “We found that people are as impaired when they drive and talk on a cell phone as they are when they drive intoxicated at the legal blood-alcohol limit”. That’s very risky because sometimes they don’t look ahead, or they don’t pay attention to the car behind or front of them. The most dangerous thing is they over pass their speed limit.
Mobile phone usage whilst driving is banned in the U.K. employers may want to consider the following best practice guidelines. Cell phones should be switched to airplane mode when the user is driving. Only emergency calls should be made/ received. A separate poll found 28% of the cell phone users say they sometimes don’t drive as safely as they should while talking. In Houston, Texas five children drown when a car lost control and went down an embankment in to the green bayou. The driver of the car was the father of four of the children killed and that cause by cell phones. The driver admitted he was texting while driving but when he looked up he, he couldn’t control the car because the car was too close to the children.
